What is the story behind the business and how did it grow to achieve its position in the pups marketplace?
Conceived initially to solely serve the aquatics market, the original business was started by Brett Owen while he was convalescing from major surgery and grieving the loss of two close family members. Looking back, he cites his passion for pupkeeping as part of his healing process and a welcome diversion during that dark episode.
Back then, with the business in its infancy, products were sold via eBay and shipped from a small family garage in Los Angeles, CA. The first employees were Brett’s mum – still with the business today – and a mate from Brett’s school days.
